Suggestions? 2000 Volvo S80 T6, aftermarket? Swaps?
 

Not too long ago I traded for a 2000 Volvo S80 T6. It needed a new rack and pinion, so had the whole steering system replaced with a referb from a company that rebuilds them, since Volvo's fix is upgrading to a whole new system for about 4 grand.. lol. Anyways, now thats fixed and the car is running great, and its in decent shape. Only problem is some headlight issues, but nothing thats really bothering me right now.

My question is, with 142k miles, its getting up there in mileage. Doesnt have any check engine light and starts and runs smooth. Turbos lose boost off and on if you get on the throttle, guessing they need to be replaced w/ the mileage on them.

Would it be worth finding a used engine and rebuilding it, while my cars running fine? I was considering getting one, rebuilding it w/ new turbos and everything, and swapping it in eventually. But then these tranny horror stories i've been reading, makes me reconsider this.

Is it possible to swap the transmission also, if I pulled the engine? What tranny would hold up the best to the torque, that would be swappable?

Also if I rebuilt an engine for the car, I was looking at possible performance upgrades, but cant seem to find any type of atermarket for the 2.8 in these cars, anyone have any info?
