Sunfoof problem
The arms that slide and lift my sun roof have popped. Have not removed them yet to see the damage. Is there one arm or what ? I would like to get the parts ahead of time. The right side or passanger side is the one that broke. The left side seems to be ok. 2001 S80 2.9
Thx |
Is it just the corigated plastic looking cover that you see from inside?
If so they are pretty cheap I believe. |

If so they are pretty cheap I believe. On our S40 the corrugated piece has broke twice now. Both times the drivers side. Tom |
Not sure but the whole right side is loose when you go over a bump or close the door hard the sun roof will bounce up and down It squeals bad if you try to open it will the corrugated part cause rhis?

The screws might just be loose(Very common)
The springs for the sunroof headliner might be bad as well. You can remove the corrugated panels and see from there. The top part by the glass slides into clips. Then bottom slides straight down like into the sunroof track. |
Ok just tightened the 4 screws and did a world of good. There is still a little loose movement but very little. However I found a long black bar of some type laying in the sunroof compartment it has some type glue on it and had to come off the front of the glass I think. It is the width of the sunroof glass. Question where does it go and what type of glue is it ? Could this possible take up the rest of the loose play in the roof?

It is a support bar for the sunroof. There is one in the front and one in the rear. It is common for them to become loose or fall off. Mine became loose and rattled like crazy, the silicone is setting as we speak.

I assume it gos on the bottom of the glass and what did you use to glue it back on with thx
|
Correct. And like I said, I used Silicone. I would imagine any weatherproof sealant will work as long as it can adhere to glass.

Thanks
