Any electronic module on the high speed CAN bus can cause this issue.
Most vulnerable is ABS and CEM. Rarely that can be ETM (throttle module) and ECM (engine module)
To check ABS first. You need to remove connector and place 120 Om resistance between 10-11 pins (CAN terminator). If the issue stops reproducing you can try to re-solder ABS.
It it still exists CEM can be the culprit. You cannot remove it like ABS because it is main vehicle computer.

Hey thanks for the help I took out the abs module opened it up seemed fine and issues didn't go away so I tightened up the ground and it was loose that ended up being it hope that helps someone else

so though it was fixed and walla still acting up!!!! Is there a way to determine wether its the cem or ecu?

doublebug 09-04-2013 06:29 AM

Engine ECU also can be the culprit if car sometimes stalls (and you cannot start engine without making cold start via disconnecting battery ground cable). That can be dying flash.
Usually if dashboard dies but engine continue working ECM is ok.
Unfortunately none of both ECM and CEM are easy to replace by used one working modules.
Both of them needs at least solder station to 'marry' with your car.
Watch carefully at symptoms what is first and what is second when glitches are reproduced. Any detail can help.

seems like a common problem..did you search on google 1st

jeffs80s 10-23-2013 09:07 PM

ya for sure ive searched... a lot. I have removed the abs module and the problem persist, Im a cnc machinist and rather handy this the first time I cant repair a car. going nuts

seems disconecting the negative on the battery will temp fix the problem for varied lengths of time I think its the ECM
