Throttle body cleaning/ OR ETM going out

Is there a thread anywhere that will give details on a DIY throttle body cleaning? Pictures would be a great plus. I have a 2000 T6 with 99,300 miles that was running great last night when I shut it off, now this morning would hardly start and when it did it surges like crazy.

2 hours later I went out and it started and idled great and even allowed me to pull up about 20 feet in my drive, then 30 seconds later it started the hard surging again. I have started it and it idled great but surged and died when I put it in gear

Last week my son hit some high water and sucked some water into the air intake. I installed new BOSCH PLATINUM plugs and drained then refilled and flushed the crank case twice, first with a pint of Seafoam then without. Initial and SEAFOAM drains were brown in color like mud but the next flush with again new 5-30 oil came out just ever so slightly dark. Drained and used my normal Syntec 5-30 and a new filter.

I am assuming that the moisture could have gotten into the PCV system and not been affected by the engine flushing and may have gotten the throttle body dirty.

I'm hearing a lot about ETM issues. I call the local dealer and they ran the VIN and said the software upgrade ONLY had been done in 2006.

I hate dealerships cause they really like to hang one deep in ya!!! Any other ideas??

RE: Throttle body cleaning

you may want to check your Fuel Pressure Regulator...this will cause surging....good luck and happy motoring...

RE: Throttle body cleaning

The throttle body might be dirty or going out.
Could also be a bad Mass Flow sensor.

The throttle body is under the intake.
You will have to remove the big black induction pipe to get to the throttle body.
