Time For Suspension Work & advice

My '99 S80 has 185K on it and it is definitely time for suspension work.Below I have listed the symptoms. Can someone tell me what needs to be replaced or is strongly recomended so I'm not fleeced by my mechanic or at least get the right things replaced?

1. Car is "hopping" on bumpy road. Sometimes car acutually (scary) changes position on road if travelling highway speeds.
2. A loud metal on metal crunching sound when going over bumpy road from the right front of car on cold mornings until drive for a while. Then the noise goes away.
3. Left rear of car bounces a couple of timesafter going over a speed bump. I know - this is a worn shock.
4. When breaking hard there is a thump I can feel in the floor board under my feet. I believe this can be resolved with a TSB kit.

I had a mechanic tell me I needed front struts & mounts ($825), stabilizer link (both sides $140), front cross member bushings ($445)

Thanks!

It is hard to say exactly what you need without seeing the car.

But sounds like shock/struts all the way around with the upper spring seats.
I would also check the control arm bushings. It mayb need the sway bar end links as well.

1999 s80 2.9L, 17k miles

I just had my front suspension replaced (rubber seats, metal mounts, struts, sway bar, various bushings). Paid about 1300-1400, including labor.
