Timing Belt
Does anyone know if a 2000 S80 T6 has an interferance type engine? Last night my son was driving the car and it suddenly went dead. When I picked him up, I tried to crank it and the engine spins without any load, so I'm assuming no compression (I'm sitting here waiting for the tow truck). I had a Porsche 928 that sounded the exact same way when the belt broke on it (32 valves!) Am I totally screwed or is there a chance that he didn't bend the valves? How hard is it to do it yourself? From the outside it looks fairly easy to get to everything, any comments?

RE: Timing Belt
Find a used Head now.
Most if the Intake Valves will be bent. |
RE: Timing Belt
How many miles are on your car. I think the timing belt should be changed every 105k miles or every 7 years. I have a 99 2.9 S80 with 103K miles on it. After I read what happned to know I think I should get it changed rather then taking a huge risk.

RE: Timing Belt
It only has 66,000 miles on it. That seems waaaaay too early for timing belt problems. Remember when Volvo used to build good cars? Anybody have any lines on where I might find a used head?
