timing belt question

I have a 2001 Volvo s80 T6 with 134k miles on it. I bought it used a year ago when it had 126k miles on it. I am not sure if the timing belt has been changed. Is it possible to determine if the timing belt was changed at 105k as per specs? Also can a car last 134k and 9 years on its original timing belt?
FYI, I had a check engine light today that I had cleared which threw a camshaft error code. The check engine light has'nt come back on yet.
Thanks a ton

RE: timing belt question

Most of the time there is a sticker on the timing cover if and when the belt has been changed. If you dont see it and dont have any idea on if it has ever been changed I would change it ASAP because if the belt breaks it will damage or even compleately destroy the engine. So its better to be safe then sorry. Also you should change the timeing belt tensionors and pullys also because they usually go bad at those miles.

interesting. Can I access the timing cover myself or do I need to take it to the dealership? What kind of sticker are we a talkin about.. would it have a date of change, etc?
cheers

RE: timing belt question

Yes it would have the date on when it was changed on also at how many miles it was changed. You should be able to see the sticker. When I got my timeing belt changed they put a sticker on the timeing cover. The timing cover is on the left side of the engine.

Hey Bigern, you just read my mind:-)I had some specific questions on this which I posted 60 sec ago on tech's thread titled "timing belt precautions". Would be great if you could provide some insight. Thanks.
