Timing belt questions
Hello,
I own a 2000 S80 2.9 and bought it new. I have taken immaculate care of this car, however I have experienced numerous problems. I just put 2000K into it for a new ABS module as well as steering fluid reservoir, & pump -although evidently the reason the steering loses "it's power" is because the "steering rail" needs replacement. Now the timing belt is shot--it wore a hole in the guard and needs replacement. I ONLY HAVE 75K miles on this car. Why did my timing belt go out? I can't understand why I am having so many failures with this car. Please help! Thank you |
Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time with you car.
Well, the car is 12 years old. Not sure what other kinds of issues you have had? That year car is the first year that Ford had full control of manufacture. :( I had a 960 that I replaced the timing belt on at 60,000, then again at 87,000. It really need both. The first because it was 11 years old, the second about 18 months later because a roller was failing and about to toss the belt. That car had belt change schedules of 70,000 miles. Did you have a roller failure? Did it toss the belt and damage the head? Was the motor / roller squeeking when you started the car? Where are you located? |
