Timing cover installation 04' S80 T6

I was able to remove the timing cover from my 04' S80 T6 and replace the coolant temp sensor without breaking anything. Apparently the T6 has a plastic nipple and plastic 90 degree fitting that go thru the upper center of the timing cover where non-turbo cars have a bolt. Now I am having a hard time re-installing the timing cover. Very difficult to see anything near the bottom of the block where the clips on the timing cover slide in. Do I need to remove the wheel and splash guard or? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. It has helped me a lot to remove/move the coolant tank, power steering and also the box around the computer. That let's you sort of pull the cover back just enough that you can get it down and then push it over the plastic tube that comes out of the thermostat. Takes a little time as you have to move some of this other stuff around and also drain a little coolant (may have already done this though!), but it makes putting the cover back on much easier.

The fact you got the plug disconnected without breaking the plastic tube on the thermostat says a lot! I've broken these and had to replace the entire unit!

Thanks, I had removed all of the things you mentioned and this helps a lot. I was so frustrated that I ended up walking a way for a couple of hours. Good lighting and patience seems to be the key here. When I came back the cover slid right on, first try. Best thing-No Broken Parts! Thanks again.
