Transmission cooler line, how to splice? 2007 S80

I'm looking at mounting a spin-on in-line filter to the automatic transmission in my 2007 S80 V8 but can't figure out what kind of transmission cooler lines I have. They are not the typical hard (steel) lines with rubber hose sections. Instead the lines appear to be a semi-hard plastic -- too stiff to stick a ****** (<-- why would the word "b.a.r.b.e.d" get censored?) fitting into, but too soft to clamp a hose over!

If I cut into one am I going to find a metal layer on the inside or is the entire line just as it appears, semi-rigid plastic throughout? Weird. I would think the lines would have had to be more flexible to handle the transmission/engine movement.

BTW, I want to mount a Trans-Dapt 1028 filter mount.

Answering my own question

From the tiny text on the radiator cooling lines it appears that they are made from "PA12-HIPHL", a type of polyamide plastic. It is a semi-rigid plastic that melts at around 170ºC. I'm going to cut it, heat up the end with a little torch, then push the end against a flat surface. This should flare it a little so that I can slip a 12mm ID hose over it and clamp it securely.

With heat, you could use the b.a.r.b.e.d. fitting or a flair fitting.
A heat gun is handy. There are also quick connects that come in a variety of thread sizes for various tubing sizes good for pressures to 200 psi.
