Transmission Troubles.
 

Hi, it seems I have a transmission problem. When I got in the car earlier I backed out of my driveway and when I shifted into drive the car wouldn't move. Is there anything I can check to see if I could resolve this problem or should I just bring it to a mechanic? I haven't checked the transmission fluid in a while. It's a 2004 by the way. Any information you guys could give would be very helpful.

Miles? My trans went on me on my S80 T6 at about 130,000. Full rebuild was $3,600. Mine started slipping unlike yours not moving. Took it to have the filter replaced and when they dropped the pan the magnet was "Covered" with metal shavings...Much worse than they should be....My mechanic said um, get ready. It could drop on you at any minute with this sign....Sure enough it went three day's later. Only had third gear.....

Hope it's not that but you never know......

mine has about 170,000. I hope it's not what happened to yours. It's at a shop right now waiting to get looked at.

Hey Lambsvolvo, any news on your Volvo ? What kind of problem is that ? Cause it looks like I have the same issue. I was driving today to work and I stopped on an intersection and after that the car would not move. While I was pressing the gas pedal the rpm were high but the car would not move forward so I stopped the engine waited for a while and the started again - the same problem. As the result i had to tow it to my mechanic to take a look at it ... I really hope that it is not very costly. I have 2004 s80 t6 with 93000 miles
