Volvo Recall

Received a letter from Volvo today that my 01 S80 was being recalled
for a combination of throttle positioning sensor irregularities, dirty throttle housing, and or inefficient software calibration.

I had a new throttle body installed last year. Is this a one and the same service?

The letter says this is a Safety Recall on the Electronic Throttle System Software. Their records indicate this has not been done on my car.

Anyone else received this letter? Thx

Just talked to Volvo in Ocala they said this was needed even though the throttle body had been replaced

Do you know what other years are effected?

oks like Volvo's bad recall news we told you about Wednesday got worse. Reuters is reporting that Volvo will recall 360,000 cars, not 170,000 we said in the previous post.

According to the official NHTSA-ordered recall, Volvo will install new software to fix speed controls on the recalled cars. Models affected include the 1999-2002 V70, and C70 coupes and convertibles; the 2001-2002 S60; the 1999-2000 S70 and V70XC; 1999-2001 S80; and the 2001 XC70. The recall number is 06V441000.

Reuters reports that Volvo spokesman Christer Gustafsson said the automaker has fixed the speed control problem on about 165,000 vehicles of the recall total after sending out notices to owners in March.

Safe to assume it doesnt apply to my 2002 S80? pretty much every other car before that seems affected...

isnt this the "Old" software upgrade recall ?

i had software upgraded just after i bought the car, is this another one os the same old one ?

it makes no sense, the last update was issues after lawsuits in 2002 after all these years volvo has actually made another software ? kinda weird they would keep working on this issue even though some of those cars are 10 years old and counting...

Thanks for the information. :D

I just called my dealer and they said that they are in the 200's and I had them check my VIN, just to be sure, and they said that I am up to date on the recalls. I have a 1999 S80 6I 2.9. I am taking it in tomorrow for an oil change so I am going to go to the site provided and print out the recall and ask them about it, because my car has these symptoms. However this seems like the same symptoms for the ETM having problems. So that might be my problem, which I just found out that I was just out of warranty for that when I tried to get it fixed. Go figure:rolleyes:.

Am I missing something here? I cant seem to find anything newer than the 2006 recall....other than a Master cyl one in 07....I've searched for awhile and all the ETM ones come up as the 2006 one.

Got the same notice day before yesterday... called Volvo of Tampa and they are "so busy" that someone would have to call me back... I'm still waiting... *jeez*.

I am glad I have a 1998 V-70 with a regular throttle body.
