VT pulley installation

Intake camshaft seal went, so had to pull the pulleys off. Just installing them now and am stuck at the exhaust camshaft pulley installation.

Vadis says

"Turn the variable valve timing unit clockwise to its stop so that the unit is in its end position. Install the upper timing cover.

.......

Installing the camshaft belt
Note! Variable valve timing units do not have return springs and are easily thrown out of position when the camshaft belt is installed. Check that the markings align."

The issue I have is that is seems my VV timing unit does have a return spring. When I turn the variable valve timing unit clockwise to its stop so that the unit is in its end position and then release, it springs back so its sitting at its counterclockwise limit.

Any help on this would be appreciated, really don't want to mess this up :)

cheers

Anyone got an idea? is it supposed to spring back to the counter clockwise stop? Would it be safe to set it there then turn the engine over by hand to make sure nothing binds up?

Cheers

That might work. I have explained it many times but cannot find the posts right at the moment.
