What to do, what to do?

I just bought a 1999 S80 2.9 with 47,000 original miles. My question is if I should replace the timing belt, water pump, and serpentine belt. I realize the mileage is low, but the car is 10 years old. I'm in the process of changing the alternator and it would kind of make sense to do the other stuff as well, but I really don't want to spend the money on it if its not absolutely neccesary. Any advice would be appreciated

Well, the fact is that you are running a 10 year old timing belt on that car. I belive the timing belt has 2 intervals 3 years OR 70,000 miles. Most people do mileage BUT if you aren't driving the mileage then you should go with the date /age as rubber can rot,etc... Personally only drive 6 miles a day back and forth to work and sometimes take my motorcycle to work, so I go by the age. I would say as piece of mind and as insurance change it all and start fresh. It may look good, but because it's 10 years old you never know when it could fail! If it was me, I would do it all... Good Luck!

Im in the danger zone I am at 107k miles and am on my original belt.... 2001 s80 t6 O.o..I gotta get on that heh.. If I was able to do the brakes and rotors, as well as spark plugs you think that I'd be okay to do this timing belt job? or should I leave it to a volvo specialist?

Gordon, you are PAST the danger zone.. im sure if you took a look at the belt, you would see cracks all over it..
at about 98,000 my belt was pretty badly cracked in an 02 s80 non turbo....
If you think you are mechanically competent, go for it, just follow the instructions..
I let a pro handle the job for me
