Calling late 1998 S90/V90 owners: What are the part numbers on your rear mudflaps?

I posted a question Volvo V90 Mudflaps don't fit my V90 - what changed? - because the mudflaps I bought will not fit my late 1998 V90 even though the part number is correct according to the data. It seems possible that Volvo changed things late in the production of the V90.

It occurred to me that all I need is the correct part numbers for the mudflaps on a late model S90/V90.

If you are the owner of an S90 or a V90 manufactured in 1998 and if you are willing to take the time to do so, please take a close look at the rear mudflaps on your car and make a note of one (or both) part numbers and reply to this message with the information. I would consider it a great kindness on your part if you were to do so.

Many thanks for any help with this problem - regards, Martin

For stuff like this, I normally search on dealer part sites like Shop OEM Volvo parts & accessories ? Volvo Parts Warehouse

I saw two different numbers 9134332 and 1294512... Not sure whether one is a kit vs a specific part. Given 1998 was the last year of that body style, I doubt they'd change an accessory that matches the body shape. More likely somebody sent you the wrong part - ie to a V70 not the V90...

Many thanks. The supplier told me he had double checked that the mudflaps he supplied were right for the car. And the front ones he supplied went on perfectly.

Someone else told me they think that the fender liners were changed at some point and, after that, the same mud flaps were used but it was necessary to modify the fender liners to fit them.

If that is correct, then I just have to track down how to make the modification - it's not completely obvious from just looking at the liners.

Thanks again, Martin

So what is the number of the ones you got that don't fit? [Edit: I see in your other post that they are the numbers listed in item 34 in the below diagram]

This diagram is what appears for Europe market V90
I would not use a US dealer website to look up anything for this car

(#1 and #29 have the same numbers. But also notice 33, 34)

Also the wheel arch liners have not changed from the 760.

Many thanks indeed for the information.

I spoke to a local garage owner who knows Volvos. He said that he thinks he remembers that to fit 960 mudflaps to a V90, a modification is necessary - presumably of the liners.

This makes sense. The instructions (date 1995) for fitting the 960 mudflaps to a 960 do not mention any need to modify the liner. And the illustrations show the mudflap going straight into its place, unobstructed. (I could fit them to my 1995 940 in ten minutes - they fit into place perfectly on that car.)

Looking at it, I am sure I could bodge it by cutting away some of the V90's liners but I would prefer to do it properly following the method worked out by Volvo. All I need to do, it seems, is track down the modification instructions.

Many thanks again, Martin
