Default Front suspension

I haven't forgotten about the ac work the car needs. I still plan to bring the car by your shop tech...

However, after putting new tires on I was reminded again that there are issues with the front suspension that probably need to be addressed first. The car has 170k miles on it and everything suspension wise is still original. The ride is a little loose and could probably use new shocks but it has had an annoying clunk in the front end over bumps that I have been unable to pinpoint. While the tires were being replaced they told me the control arm bushings were completely worn out and because of that they wouldn't be able to to an alignment on the car. I suppose that makes sense with the clunking.

Of course for them to replace would be a lot of money. My question is, can the bushings be replaced or should I replace the entire control arm? I do not have access to a press to remove or install the bushings; is one absolutely needed? I am thinking right now to replace the entire control arm which already has the bushings in as well as the ball joints. How much of a job is this? It really doesn't look too bad. Along with that, where would be a good place to buy either new bushings or control arms?

Check with our shop about the job. We replace the bushings all the time. Yes you need a press to do it.
