Default Leather dashboard

Fellow Volvo fans,
For those with the leather dashboard, have you noticed any areas where the leather is no longer tightly adhered to the subsurface? I noticed a small spot when we originally purchased the car, V90 XC, and now almost every piece is beginning to pull away from the subsurface. The dealership has ordered the leather and will be sending it out to have installed. I was reading a review of the V90 in one of the car magazines and the author noticed the same issue with the leather.

Hey!

I actually just just picked up my V90 yesterday, but when we placed the order for the car, everyone in the dealership steered us away from the leather dash. They have had more reports of the the leather bubbling and delaminating than they care to count. This is unfortunate because I think the leather dash really does transform the interior of the vehicle and gives it a much more luxourious feel.

I’m glad that your dealership is covering it under warranty and good luck with your vehicle in the future!

The car has been in the shop for 3 weeks while they try to replace the leather dash and the lumbar bladder. I hope Volvo found a new adhesive as we just bought a 2019 XC90 with the leather dash.

That seems a long time. We dropped ours in and they did in a day. They had to do the top of the doors as well so it would all match. They did say it took the full day to complete.

Over the years, there have been several problems with Volvo and their adhesives. The funny thing is that with all of the trouble with adhesives failing, the headliner on these cars tend to go the distance. I don't believe that we have ever replaced a headliner in a modern Volvo.

Ours did the same on a 2016 S90. Replaced under warranty a year ago and further issues. They did the doors as well so it would match!

Under best of circumstances leather dashes will have a very limited life span especially if living outdoors, and in sunny climates... Five years? But since modern cars are meant to last til the lease expires, it's par for the course.

Hi everyone,
I have a Volvo V90 Cross Country Pro T6 in 2019, 65K Km and the same problem with only 4 years, it's no a problem of leather it's a problem of glue.

I worked in OEM and TIER1 in automotive, so close with customer care and quality in manufacturing, after 32 year's experience only can say it's a cockpit TIER1 problem that Volvo must to assume, normally the cockpit assume the Tier1 and OEM Volvo only assume the replacement cost that's all, so simple.

Talking with my dealer in Barcelona only wants to assume 30%, 50% of the replacement cost 4k€, so one car of 103,5K€ and happen this things, it's a really shame!!
Fortunately It's not the same cases that other premium cars, so I decided no more Volvo's after 20 years buying, this is customer service, guarantees problem!!

It's a pity, because I'm a passionate of Volvo especially Cross Country model by my life style and all the work done by the dealers in building loyalty, falls to the ground with Volvo customer service.

This is a quality campaign, not an isolated error, there are a thousand references with customers in internet with the same problems, XC**, S90, V90, if you are from the EU and you are equally affected, we can make force and win the replacement of parts at 100%, whether or not under warranty because it is a bad manufacture of the part in question not a bad use, mi car always go the parking to parking, never see the sun.

Other examples:

My case:

So I decide if Volvo not replace my cockpit 100% this summer, I will bring Volvo to court, so simple. The question is.. what are you going to do?
