Default new user a/c problem

Well i have been a long time gear head and i bought a 1998 s90 for my wife and the a/c didn't work. Well the guy said it needed recharging. I pour a can of r134 in it and it still didn't blow cold. The clutch doesn't move when i hit turn on the a/c. I am no expert on the subject as all my cars i've just removed them to save weight on the track and my daily driver never gave me problems so i am a little stumped. Could it be i didn't put enough freon in it, or could it be that the clutch needs to be reshimmed? I've been searching around for a write ups but haven't had much luck. Thanks in advance, and hopefully i can return the advice on other car matters in the future

If it was totally out, it could need a little more. Example, if they take 1.75 lbs, and they get .5 lb low, it will cause the compressor to NOT enguage. So, it is possible that you did not put enough in. Does the blue light come on at the controls?

The AC is not working on the S90 I just picked up.

the a/c switch does light up when i hit it but i took the switch off by the part you put the freon in and jumped it, you can hear it like it is trying to go almost like a raise in idle but the pulley still doesnt turn, so i asked the guy at autozone he was like no it would still turn if it didnt have any freon but i am sure he isnt a ac whiz either

I'm not that smart. I just had it serviced at an A/C shop and went from there.
