Timing belt break: long term effects?

I'm looking at a 1998 Volvo S90 whose timing belt broke at 100,000 miles. A Volvo dealership replaced the cylinder head. All seems in order. It sounds good. Is there any reason to fear residual damage to the lower half of the engine? What should I look for?

Should be no issues at all. I wouldn't give it another thought. If the car isn't misfiring, it should be good.

If they replaced the head, no bent or broken valves to worry about. And with the head off, the pistons can easily be inspected. Nice find with 100k! At least you have a new head gasket, and probably a new timing belt? I'd find out plus document for future maintenance.
