2005 s40 high idle when starting
 

I have a 2005 s40 NA 5 cylinder with 64k miles. Recently did the plugs with vovlo parts and a recent oil change. We use mid grade in the car. When its started the RPM's are up around 1,500 and after 15 seconds they go down to normal. Is this common in these cars? this is the first one we have owned.

Just sounds like the automatic chock..sounds normal to me..best way to check is start the car and when its at running temperature(after 5 mins of running) switch it off and then back on...if it does the same, get it checked out...if it drops pretty much straight away...great!

thanks for the reply, i will try that. my wife drives the car, so I don't drive it all the time
