Fault codes, do not get for what
I'm having some trouble with my Volvo and could use some advice. My check engine light came on, so I ran a diagnostic scan and got these codes:
- P0700 - Transmission Control System (MIL request)
- P0705 - Transmission Range Sensor 'A' Circuit (PRNDL input)
- P0017 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor B
- P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit
- P0336 - Crankshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit Range/Performance
What I've Done:
- Checked the transmission fluid - looks good.
- Inspected wiring and connectors - no obvious damage.
- Confirmed the codes with a diagnostic tool.
- Looked at the sensors - nothing obvious wrong.
I would be more concerned with the cam and crank sensor codes. Those are probably what has turned the check engine light on. What year car? Have you erased the codes, driven it again for a while and checked what codes came back?
The cam and crank codes could mean the timing belt is not installed properly, and the sensor signals are not making sense to the ECM - they don't "correlate" (with what the ECM expects to see) .
If the belt was recently incorrectly replaced, or is loose (slipped a tooth), or crank pulley nut was left loose, or worn tensioner is pushing belt off - there are many possibilities - some with very expensive outcomes (bent valves) ------
