Need help please: Cannot get rear lower control arm screw to budge
 

I'm trying to replace the rear spring/shocks on an '03 V40 and I cannot for the life of me get the rear lower control arm screws (B ) to budge on either side of the vehicle. The nuts came off no problem with an impact wrench, and the nuts and screws for the shock (A) came off not problem with an impact wrench as well. I tried the impact wrench on the screw and hitting both ends of the screw with many blows of a hammer, with all sorts of combinations of the control arm supported with a jack. No luck whatsoever. It appears welded in there solid!

What am I missing, or what else might I try to get this thing off? Any help is appreciated. TIA

Soak it with WD40 overnight. Have you tried wedging the wrench against the ground and slowly lowering the car so that the weight of the car is applying pressure?

I noticed in another forum a post about compressing the spring in the wheel well, and with the assembly compressed, being able to pull it out without undoing the control arm screw I was having trouble removing.

Very fortunately, over the weekend I was able to replace both rear springs and shocks similar method, except I had to disconnect the shock from the trunk and trailing arm, compress the spring and shock, and disassemble the entire thing all in the wheel well in order to get the spring, shock, mount, etc. out in separate pieces. As such, I was able to install the new strut and spring in reverse order. So, all is well for now (until I really do have to remove that screw to replace a bushing or whatnot)! Thanks!
