Hi this is my first post on this forum, I own a 1998 T4 V40 auto with 126k , I was having problems with warm up, ie no choke effect and stuck stat, i have replaced the stat and the coolant temp sensor.
I have also replaced the plugs and the maf.
On many occasion when i start it cold i.e. 2 oC its starts and idles at 900-950 in neutral and drops slightly in gear.
After driving for 5-10 minutes or say 4-5 miles the engine idles at 1000-1050 this then eventually after another mile or 2-3 minutes drops of back to 750 ro bormal revs, any ideas why its hanging and increasing in revs ie.e idle valve.

Also i have violent shakes in the dash and steering wheel only @ idle bearable in neutral quite bad in gear which mounts if thats the fault should i look at.

 

Violent shake could be a broken motor mount. They are a fairly easy fix if that is the case.
