'05 V50 Grind/Clunk Noise
Howdy All,
I'm new here. I have a 2005 Volvo V50 2.4L American spec that has been making a kind of a grinding noise that almost sounds like a clunk coming somewhere on the front right side of the car. It only happens under acceleration and in a right hand turn. Sometimes it will quietly make the noise in park when facing downhill. Me and 2 of my buddies who are mechanics took a look at the car and we are clueless. The weirdest part is when the car heats up to normal operating temperature, the noise goes away. I have done some work to the car hoping to randomly find a fix, but have been unsuccessful. The following work was done to the right side of the car. - upper strut mount - control arm - sway bar linkage - bearing - front axle I am at a loss at what could be making this noise. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Lord_Snax |

Unfortunately, the noise you are describing is not what my Volvo is making. The article you posted describes a clunk when changing gears from forward to reverse or vice versa. The noise I have is only made when going straight or making a right turn when the engine is cold. |
