Default Audio receiver

The sound of the built-in radio is pretty poor.
Replacement of the loudspeakers - will it help?

Yes, absolutely. In the audiophile world, 90% of the trick is getting the parts that convert from one format (electronic pulses) into another (mechanical movement of the speaker cone or diaphragm). By far the best thing you can do for your sound system "on the cheap" is to replace the (cheap) factory speakers with something a lot better. Yes, going to the trouble of swapping out your radio (a neat trick with our waterfall dash design) can improve things as well, but that's a lot more money, hassle, and the improvement will be smaller. Unless you like your music at ear-bleed volumes, and/or will sit for hours in your car when it's not running listening to the nuances of an artfully recorded acoustic guitar, your stock radio will do a pretty fair job if you replace the speakers with something better.
