Default AWD struts

My recently acquired 2005 V50 AWD has some noise, leakage and typical handling issues associated with worn-out struts. At first, I was pleased to find a strut kit on FCP, but further inspection of the individual part numbers in the kit I found the right strut doesn't show to be a direct cross reference to the Volvo part number. In fact, neither strut correlates to the chassis code for my V50. I went to Bilstein's, SACH's and other manufacturer's web sites and none of them make a strut for AWD models. Also, Rock Auto, whom I have never used, don't even list struts for AWD but their FWD struts are the same corresponding part numbers that FCP and others show that are allegedly for AWD. AWD S40 & V50 models would be heavier than their FWD counterparts and so would require struts with a different damping rate while having the same external dimensions. I know many have put the FWD struts in their AWD vehicles, but the only direct replacement parts are the genuine Volvo struts. The struts for 2005-2010 S40/V50 with chassis code 21 are 31277592 (left) and 35277591 (right). I am in no way trying to modify the ride, I just want to restore it to its original state. For those making mods I know this goes out the window, but for those wanting to simply restore original ride I believe it' is useful to know.
