Welcome to the forum.
Your car is very new and the only reason I can think of is manufacturing defect. If the brake pedal goes to the floor, it is usually a sign of air begin introduced into the brake system. Have a reputable shop bleed the system to see if the brake functions properly. If bleeding the brake fluid does not solve the problem, I can only assume that the master cylinder could be faulty. A car with many miles could have this symptom due to worn out pads/rotors but your car only has 4,000 miles so this one is probably out.
I would find an independent shop that specialises in Swedish/Euro makes and have a certified ASE Master Technician work on your car. Insist on using DOT-4 brake fluid. Or, you can visit a dealer; dealers charge more but they usually do the job right the first time.
I hope other V50 owners come in, but if you did not receive other replies quick enough, post this question in General Volvo Chat.
Best of luck,
JPN
