1998 V70R is super slow
 

Hi everyone.

I recently traded for a 1998 V70R. It runs very smooth.... It just has no power. As in it takes me 14 seconds to get to 60MPH. I have done all of the vacuum lines, replaced the turbo control solenoid, and seafoamed the system. I also adjusted the wastegate actuator. I can hear the turbo at low revs in first gear in my neighborhood. It's weird, but it seems like the car has more power under half throttle than full throttle. No smoke, no stalling, no weird sounds. My friend had an 850 na that I worked on for years so I'm familiar with the engine, just not the turbo components.

The only other thing the car does is idle around 1100 after its warm. It occasionally throws P1507, a IAC code.

Typo: code P0505

P0505 refers to your idle air control valve or the throttle body trim. Normally that would suggest a cold idle problem. Regarding the turbo, only way to tell what's going on with it is with a boost gauge. I'm wondering if you have some kind of airflow restriction - clogged cat, crimped exhaust pipe or intake air filter or a boost leak (intercooler hose path etc)

Update: installed a boost gauge and at most the turbo is producing 2-3lbs of boost. I checked the turbo and it shaft spins freely and feels just fine. I replaced a few more vacuum lines and it didn't help anything. The previous owner replaced the bypass valve spring, and gave me the original and the "heavy duty" red spring from the kit he got. Could he have maybe messed something up there?

Another thing I have discovered is that the inlet... Or outlet... Hose that connects to the top of the inter cooler collapses under load. Could this be my problem? I ordered another one, but I'm not sure if maybe I'm missing something bigger. Clogged intercooler maybe? How do I check?

If it's collapsing then it's under vacuum. Something upstream of that point is very seriously plugged up.

What upstream could be clogged? Excuse my ignorance, I don't know much about turbos.
