2000 v70SE, Timing belt Costs?
Hi All,
Just purchased a 2000 V70. Replacing my 740 Wagon of 216000 miles not because of problems with car, runs great, but 2 dogs that have just worn the inside a little too much for me.
A couple questions. Car has 107000 on it, in excellent condition, loaded! Paid 6500.00. Is this an ok price? However, I wish I would have checked this site first seeing all the talk about the ETM Module. Second, I know the timing belt is a couple thousand miles past due and previous owner doesn't think it was done. (OLDER) What should I expect to pay for a timing belt and tensioner replacement"
Other than that, this car runs great, smooth, and clean.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the welcome and information. I had 2 quotes today. The first was for 290.00. It included Belt, tensener, and water pump.
The second shop, which is mostly foreign cars only, wanted 1200.00. The guy that owns this second shop I went to school with and are good friends. However, its a high end shop with lots of overhead. Does great work but I'm afraid too complete of great work and mark up of parts. When I say complete, "Belt, tensioner, cam and crank seals, water pump, serpintine, cam/crank gears, etc.
When I changed the timing belt, and seals on my older 740 (214k), it was needed because of leaks. I just don't see replacing all that at this time with 107K on it and clean as a whistle(engine). Maybe down the road when its due for the next belt change.
What ya thinks?

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all your help. Can't see fixing something thats not needed at this time. I can understand preventive maintenance to a degree, but won't support somebody elses high life styles.
I agree with the time frame allotted to replace this thing after seeing a link describing in detail with pictures on replacing belt and tensioner.
Thanks for all your fast, friendly help.
Jeremy
