2002 V70 T5 Clock Problem, Advances Continuously

My 2002 V70 T5's clock in the instrument cluster will advance continuously as if a ghost is trying to set it at high speed. This is happening most times after start. If I start the car and it works normally and I try to set the clock I am able to sometimes, but other times it starts to race again. Also, while the clock is racing I am unable to stop it with the setting knob. The trip odometer will not respond to me trying to reset or change from 1 to 2 while the clock is racing.

Any guesses?

Thanks in advance.

xc70 2003 Clock Problem - Advances Continuously

My clock in our 2003 xc70 has begun to do exactly the same thing as the previous poster. Did you find a solution?

V70 clock

My V70 has same problem 2 weeks ago. I don't know what is it. And the daily counter is reset sometimes. I think it's related with the clock problem
Any idea?

DIM replaced - clock works!

I eventually had to replace a flaky Driver Information Module or Instrument Cluster - it started with the clock then intermittent instruments etc - sounds like the 2002 and 2003 models were susceptible. Sounds like the circuit boards would have issues (heat, solder, etc). A company in Canada called Xemodex can send a refurbished guaranteed for life module for under $500. Definitely better than the dealer's $1,400. I've read where others had success reflowing solder on the circuit boards but that was beyond my comfort for such small chips.
