Default 98 volvo v70 turnsover wont start

I have a 98 volvo v70 auto that turnsover but will not start. Im getting fuel as I can smell it from the engine bay, and the pulleys/belts are spinning when the key is turned but the engine is not firing up.

Seems that it is not getting any spark. The car has 135k on it. Can somebody recommend something for me to check out. Thanks

First confirm that you are getting no spark.
Try pulling codes as well.

Even a failing / failed fuel pump will put fuel in the cylinders. I just changed one on my 850. So check your fuel pressure, too, even if you're getting fuel.

Pull the timing belt cover and have an assistant crank the engine while you observe it.

Been a min but I finally got around to working on the car (been in a hawaii for a week). Anyhow add me to the list of failed timing belts.

I had it towed to a shop and confirmed it was the timing belt. They are gonna put a new one in it and do a compression test, hopefully the motor isnt destroyed. Only positive is the fact that thing must have snapped when I tried to crank it, verses snapping while the engine was fully running. I was at 105k miles.

Just like to correct what happen. The tensioner pulley that holds the belt came off causing the belt to unravel thus destroying the engine. 2 cyinders had no compression, so it is complete engine failure.

I need a new engine now, so if you have any places you can recommend let me know thanks. Oh and the mileage was 132k not 105k.

My suggestions to anybody at the 70k+ mileage range, get your timing belt changed now, and have them look at your pulley. Or suffer the pain of a blown engine.

The engine can be rebuilt, but the labor costs outweigh the price unless you do it yourself.
