I've just bought myself a 1999 with a known Engine problem - I've not even seen the car but eBay got the better of me again.

The bodywork looks great but the owner says their is an Engine noise and I'm trying to get some pre-diagnosis, or at least what to look for first when it arrives?

Here's what the current owner has to say about it... still drives OK apparently which sounds like it's not too terminal just yet!

"EVERY TIME I STOPPED HER WITH ENGINE STILL RUNNING AS QUITE NOISY VIBRATION KNOCKING SOUND WAS HEARD FROM UNDER THE BONNET, THE NOISE ONLY HAPPENS WHEN NOT MOVING, WHEN IDLE IF SHE IS REVVED UP TO 2000 RPM THE NOISE IS NO LONGER THERE. EVEN THOUGH SHE STILL DRIVES REALLY SMOOTH AND LOVELY I DECIDED NOT TO TAKE ANY CHANCES AND PARK HER UP."

What say ye Volvo detectives?
I will of course report back as soon as I get my hands on it... Thanks in advance for any ideas, I know it's difficult.
