Battery is dead -cannot open the car
 

my battery is completely dead and the keychain-and key is not working

bought a slim Jim and opened from thru the passenger back door.
What a nighmare!! the whole car has only one lock at the driver-side

I'm glad to hear you were successful. So if the battery is dead, inserting the key in the door and twisting still requires power to unlock? I would have thought it would be a mechanical thing and not electric.

yes, it was all locked and mechanically it would not open. wagon's trunk doesn't have nor a inside latch nor a key hole. I dont know if its only this model or if this is a Volvo thing

What year is your car?
 

Hello, I drained the battery in my 2002 last week and the key lock worked fine. There wasn't enough juice to actuate the door locks. At first I thought my fob battery died. Kira
