Default Broken remote key kills the engine. (7-month old post)

Hello,

I’m owner of a 2005 V70, the blade key spring stopped working so the key is loose and the remote has a key ring which I use to attach 5 regular keys to it.

The problem is that when the key is inserted in to the ignition, the remote and the keys are at the 90 deg. Angle to the ignition key and hanging downwards and pointing to the floor (in unbroken situation, the remote and the ignition key are in a straight line).
The 5 keys plus a key ring do not weight that much but bumps in the roads make the mass to move up and down and eventually slowly turns off the ignition.

It took me awhile to figure out that the keys weight eventually turned off the engine. It is scary situation when driving 65-70 m/h on the freeways and suddenly you have no steering power and no engine and the cars approaching you from all directions. Volvo USA and Volvo Santa Monica Volvo are ignorance and recommend either to remove the keys or pay $300 for the replacement for another same faulty design without taking any responsibilities.

I am posting this to see if others have had similar issues.

Allan
