Default A/C help

I just got a new (new to me) 2000 V70 with 169,500 miles. The a/c is super cold sometimes, and then when I am in trafic or slow down the fan stays on but the temp of the air goes warm?? then if i turn it off and back on it seem to come back a live (nice and cold). however that only works a few times, then only warm (hot air in NC), until it sits for a few minutes (turned off). i checked the pressures and they seem pretty good. Any ideas or help would be awesome.
owner of 2 vovlos with a total of almost 400,000 miles

I bet the compressor clutch needs a reshim.

That's a classic symptom of what is described above. I've been installing reman compressors, driers and orifice tubes when this happens because the system is probably due for a service, anyway. It is hard to pull the clutch with the compressor installed and if you open the system, you might as well do the entire thing.

I had the exact same issue with my 01 V70 and was able to pull the clutch off the compressor and reshim it without taking the compressor out. I will say it is a pain in the butt and takes a bit of patience put totally pays off and saves ya from having to buy a new or reman compressor. I did mine last spring and it's still working perfectly with no issues.

Smile Your right

This re-shim is right on the money. I did it on this one and then again for my Fater-in-law last summer. I did both with out having to open the a/c system. Both are still working awesome. You guys are the best!! Thanks so much Jim
