Clean the steering wheel?

Clean the steering wheel?
Maybe an odd question, but I'm about to swap my 1998 N/A 2.5 for a 1998 T5 () which has a light tan/cream leather interior. It's done 146K miles and the steering wheel is (or was!) the same colour as the upholstery, but after 146K miles in hot Nevada it's gone grey. Is there much that can be done in the way of cleaning it without damaging it? If so, does anyone have any recommendations for leather cleaning products that actually work?!
Cheers,
Richard

RE: Clean the steering wheel?
Try some saddle soap. That usually works a treat on seats, door mouldingsetc... You should be weary of products that are abrasive. If the protective coating on the steering wheel has been worn, attempting to clean it may in fact, make it worse!!!!! Also, certain products will make the surface you are cleaning slippery. Not really a good idea on the steering wheel....
Have a quick look at this website: www.leatherique.com. They stock loads of different products for cleaning and restoring leather that are excellent. Although you should do some research on the product and it's application BEFORE you purchase attempt to clean......
Post a reply if you get it sorted with some pics? Hope this helps!
Good luck
