Climate Control Blower turns on when car is off
 

Hi. I have an 01 V70 XC in good condition. I have noticed about a half dozen times in the last couple of weeks that my blower motor turns on (at highest possible speed) when the car is off, with the key out, and has been sitting for some amount of time (when I've seen it, generally more than an hour). If I get back in the car, insert the key, and turn it to run the problem stops.

Anyone else experienced this behavior? Got any ideas what it could be? CC module?

I am concerned that it will wear out the blower or drain my battery.

Hello, The fan runs after shutdown to dry the evaporator; lengthening it's life and reducing odors in the ductwork. It's been mentioned alot. Try searching "blower fan run on" for parameters. I can't establish any with my experiences. We've had sultry days recently when my blower does not come on. Kira

Ah. Thanks for the reply. That explains it. I live in Seattle, but have been in North Carolina for the last month. The behavior started happening after coming down here, where I use the A/C almost constantly.
