Driver door lock not responding to remote.

OK...so 1 click unlocks the Driver door...click again unlocks the passenger doors & tailgate.

Yesterday, seems I had my hand on the door handle at the same time I clicked the remote and since that, the Driver door locks, but doesn't unlock via the remote or the door-mounted switches.

I've read a few similar posts for other Volvo models, but none detailed this exact scenario - hence this new thread.

Is this expensive to have fixed or is it something I can do myself using ordinary tools and brains?

Thanks in advance!
U guys rock!

It is not all that bad to replace. The door lock assembly's commonly go bad.

Hi Tech,
Any details on how? Where to find parts?
Or suggestions where I might find such info?

Thanks in advance!

You have to remove the door panel. Then you will see an access hole in the back of the door. Then you need to remove the rear window track which is held in with either one screw or a rivet. Then there is a few screws holding the latch in. Also there is a little black triangle shaped cover. Remove that and the 2 screws under it. Slide the handle out some and work the latch out.

Swap in the new one. Here is where is gets a little complicated when you slide the handle back in there is a rod from the lock cylinder that has to go into a hole on the latch. There is a little hole on the body of the door you can look through to guide the rod back in. It takes a little work but can be done.

I do not think anyone sells the lock aftermarket as of yet you will have to buy one from the Dealer or get a used one.

there is a write-up with pics & how to repair one of the common problems here: http://volvospeed.com/Repair/v70latch1.php . Just ignore the repair part if you are replacing (this is what I used when I had to replace mine).
