Electrical gremlins
 

Having come to own a late 2000 X reg V70 recently I am currently trying to fix the car up from the years of neglect it has suffered sat in a farmer's field by it's previous owner.

It is currently suffering from an electrical issue which means the instrument cluster lighting, aswell as the back lighting for the stereo and heater control is dim, the headlights will not go down to parking lights or flash the high beam, the indicators and hazards are not working, the front wipers only work on regular constant, the windscreen washers won't work, nor will the rear wiper and washer and only the driver's door locks on the key, I don't have the fob either.

I'm sorry that it has likely been asked before but rather than me trawling through various threads in the hope of stumbling across the answer I thought I'd just ask. I have had it suggested there may be an issue with the ignition, or within the steering column or that one of the earth cables is at fault.

I would remove clean and reseat the ECM module .
If its persists, read the codes with vida.
