Which engine mount is it?

My 01 V70 is experiencing signs of a slowly wearing engine mount. You can feel it when you give it gas and taking your foot off the gas, with a tiny slight thunk when doing so. When reversing, the car minutely jerks a few times before smoothing out, etc.

I don't know which mount it would be though. I know the signs from my other cars. Is there a way to visually check? My friend noticed that the main one on top of the engine seems a little loose. The engine moves alot when in park and idling up and done. I'm assuming that one may be the one going bad, but not sure.

I checked the forums but not a whole lot I could find on my model.

RE: Which engine mount is it?

Thanks guys! Is there any way to visibly tell if one is bad, and if so, can I replace them without needing an engine lift or anything? They look fairly simply to do. I took allof your advice about fcpgroton and they have great prices on parts, plus they have the mounts in stock.

RE: Which engine mount is it?

They are both very easy to replace and no lifting needed.

OK Great. Thank you.

I ordered the #6 torque mount from FCP. I'll try that one first since it seems like it's easier to get to.

#6 is replaced. Very simple to do and no need to even lift the car. Definitely an improvement.

I think my #2 already has the new updated mount. Mine has the rectangular bushing instead of the round one, and the part number stamped on it is 30680770. I'm a correct to assume it's the new updated one?

RE: Which engine mount is it?

Yes it is an updated one but in my opinion they are major junk.
Feel it for your self and see how much it moves in there. You will see what I mean.

RE: Which engine mount is it?

Yeah my friend keeps pointing out to me how much the engine moves when I rev it. I didn't think that was right. Is there an aftermarket alternative I can purchase to replace the OEM one? I'm willing to spend the money if it means it's better. The bushing looks almost new so it must not have been replaced too long ago.

Find a round bracket and install a urethane mount.
I might be able to find you a bracket.

Thanks. Would I have to drill out the holes for the bolts? There's only two, correct?

RE: Which engine mount is it?

Do you mean where it attaches to the motor?

HummerGuy 10-01-2008 09:17 AM

RE: Which engine mount is it?

Yes. When you talk about a bracket, you mean a replacement for the actual mount that connects to the block that houses the bushing, correct? The bracket has two holes in it. Do they sell replacements with the holes drilled in those exact spots?

Sorry, i'm confused

RE: Which engine mount is it?

The entire aluminum bracket is the mount.
That is the part you will need to get.

Thats what it looks like.
You need one of those with the round bushing.

RE: Which engine mount is it?

Yup. That's what I meant. I'm using the wrong terminology.

That is thebracket I have now with that exact bushing and the same part number stamped on it. I've seen pics of the old original one and I definitely have the new one you referenced.

So what you are saying is I can keep that bracket/mount and just replace the bushing in there with one of the older type that are better, or is there a universal replacement, which is probably what you are talking about?

If you have any suggestions or a place I can order a better bushing from let me know. Can I just order any poly bushing with the same diameter?

RE: Which engine mount is it?

You will need a bracket with the round hole. The one you have has a square hole.

HummerGuy 10-02-2008 11:03 AM

RE: Which engine mount is it?

Ah OK. I didn't know the hole was square. I thought only the outside rubber flap was rectangular. So basically the older one was probably better but just had a crappy bushing and they decided to replace the entire piece?

Well, if you run across it let me know, but don't worry about it otherwise. The one I have now looks fairly new so I'm sure it will lasta bit. Is there any disadvantage to having the new one? Is the engine shifting too much goign to cause issues later?

I know I ask alot of questions. I just like to learn.

RE: Which engine mount is it?

My opinion they move to much I don't like them at all.
I will look around and try to find you an old bracket.

RE: Which engine mount is it?

Thanks. Are those size bushings easy to find?
