First post- Help choosing a T5?

Hello all. I'm a wagon lover, currently driving my little Escort wagon with 170k on the clock with nothing done other than maintainence, timing belt and water pump. I'm hoping to move up to a used Volvo soon and I would like some opinions on the "sweetspot" for a T5.

I see a lot of 2001 models but I also read about a lot of problems with that particular year?

I have my eye on an ebay car currently but haven't bought a car there before and am a bit scared of getting burnt...
(here's the car I'm drooling over: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HARD-...QQcmdZViewItem )

Is there a particular year I should be on the lookout for?

Thanks for any help!

*Edit: forgot to mention the ad states that the "SRS" light is on. I guess that could be one of a million things?

I tried to look at it but the pictures would not open here at work. A red V70 T5 5 speed. That is definitely a rare car. I'm liable to bid on it myself. It's only a couple hundred miles from here.

Pulled it up and it's sold. Highest bid was $4,000, but I saw it on Autotrader for $7965.

Dang, I don't know what happened in the auction. It was ended early and I didn't get a chance to bid...

Oh well, I may be better off in the long run with an auto... I really loved that car though...

I would send an E-mail and ask why it was ended early.

Maybe they forgot to put a reserve on it and ended it.
They may relist it again.

When I saw bids of $3770 and no reserve I knew it was going to get pulled especially when I found it on Autotrader for $7965. If you are interested it is still there.

Called today.. .sold off the lot... Oh well! Tough to do much on a vehicle when you're 300 miles away and it doesn't come with a warranty.

There's an auto T5 close to me that I hope to look at, but I'm not having any luck with the phone number, maybe they're on vacation.

We bought our 01 V70 T5 auto a few months ago and absolutely love it. My wife and I both prefer manuals, but this one was local and in very, very nice condition, so we went ahead and took it. Plus we decided we could use it to pull our boat the 4 miles to the lake and get rid of our old 81 F100 pickup. Even in stock form, the T5 really impresses me, and I'm used to some very high HP sports cars (Vettes, Porsches, etc). Of course, it probably won't stay stock for long... ;)

I guess I could be forced into driving it, if there was nothing else around to drive. Even at 7965 it sounds like a good deal. Red wagon with a stick, and a third row, at 4000, I'll take three.
