Good deal, or not really?

If its 56K miles, and an '06, why isn't it "Volvo Certified"? I know it costs money for a dealer to get a certified used car backed by Volvo since there are lots of inspections and usually replacements to go through. But, this one should be within the qualifying range. The ad says extended warranty available -- and the aftermarket ones usually aren't worth too much.
What does the Carfax say? The dealer can also check the warranty/dealer service records for this car. If the dealer is hiding those, I'd back off since you're paying retail price for a car with only "private sale" backing -- i.e. none.
That being said, about a year ago, we bought an 06 from a dealer, but with Volvo Certified warranty and only 14K for $22K. V70 2.5t. Its been a fine car.

What did you decide, Eric?
I feel your pain. I bought an 01 V70 2.4t on Craigslist for $4200. It had 156k miles on it. Carfax showed a couple of minor fender benders but nothing major.
$4500 first visit to the shop. $2500 the 2nd visit. Only then was I able to get it past emissions and get my tags.
Just now got it back from a third trip. $2500 more on rear main oil seal and pre and post catalytic converter O2 sensors among other miscellany. Now I'm in for $13,700 on a car that bluebooks for $7k on a good day.
but here's the sick thing...
I freaking LOVE THIS CAR.
When I drive it, I don't think about how much I've sunk into it. I think about how awesome it is! I don't like the earlier models - too boxy. And I don't like the later models - too puffy. The body on the 01 is just perfect. I can't tell you how much I adore this vehicle.
Probably some major unwise decisions to get it all fixed, but oh well... Maybe the worst is behind me.
Sometime soon I'll outline the repairs here just for grins. Maybe my sob story will encourage others.

and don't make a buy based upon Carfax! My "new to me" 01 V70 showed one major wreck on the carfax way back in 03, so I wasn't worried. After I got the car home, found the original owner's name and called her. She told me the car was driven mostly by her 20 yr old son and had been in MULTIPLE wrecks. But she did tell me all maintenance had been done at local dealer, which the dealer confirmed but carfax sure didn't show it. All Carfax will assure you, from what I can tell, is if the mileage showing is close to reasonable by showing you the mileage each year when emissions testing was done.

So we got our 06 V70T and drove it 300 miles home, what an awesome car. I love the smooth ride and all the torque right off idle. So it's an 06 2.5 Turbo with 31000 miles and got it for $16,500, I feel it was a great deal. Now I'm looking for an older one 2001-2004 for myself, I find lots of 01's but from what I have read these have the most problems. Any problem areas I should look closly at with one with 100K miles on? Thanks everyone, Eric
