Default Headlights

I seem to go through alot of headlight ((low beam) bulbs - it seems like every 6 months or so - has anyone else had this problem? I don't mind so much the cost (well not too much) but they are a pain to replace

Any particular brand better than the rest? [&:]

I agree with Tech, mine seems to go out frequently. I've now started to track the install date, and I'm at 15 and 11 months for may last 2 replacements. These were Sylvania Silver Stars.

Maybe it is me but mine seem to go atleast every 6 months - but again that is one then the other so you are probably spot on at 11 months. Its a pain in the neck to replace - I am doing it now just to avoid my husband's complaining about it!

See part of the reason they go out so often is due to the safety feature of having the daytime running lights on all the time.

You are right about the safety feature of them running all the time, however my previous car (a Subaru) also had that same feature of always on headlights - in 120K and 6 years I only replaced them once

No matter - it is not a critical issue - I was only wondering because my father's V70XC hasn't had a headlight burn out yet and we have had our cars for the same length of time and he has driven it more miles..........was wondering if there were better headlights out there..............

Volvo's electrical systems are not good on bulbs for some reason.
You father is lucky to have never changed a bulb. It is usually like clock work with them burning out.

The H7 has an average lifespan of 250-400 hours. If you choose to leave the DRL feature"on", you are running the lights every timet he car is on. Silverstar and Hella are the longest lasting DOT performance H7's on the market at the moment. Both Hella and Osram offer a "long life" or "heavy duty" version of the H7 which will get you about 100 hours more.

I have the Hella DOT9007 blue bulbs in my Truck and have over 40K mile on them in the past year, probably 50%of that is night driving.

Once again, interesting issue..... after being rearended and had a totalled 855T5 1995 (in early feb., 2008), the insurance company (as usual) pushed me to get another car rather quickly.... so I found a Volvo V70 AWD 1998.... the service book was gone even though I bought the car from an elderly couple. But still after 9 months my lights (low/high-beam) are working perfectly. During the past week the odometer changed to 116k miles.....
If the insurance company had given me more time, I wouldn't have gotten this car. To many issues has appeared. Probably due to the lack of regular service.
However the lights are working fine. I have clonkings from the front bushings.... which has to be replaced, some day!!

I had this problem until I discovered that I was using the wrong amp/wat. Haven't changed bulbs in two years.
