Headlights bulbs

Hi,
I'm a new member of this forum and new owner of a V70 (Phase 2). Being new to this car, there are many thinghs I don't know... Well, there are many things I don't know in general, but expecially on this car!

I saw yesterday a nice offer on some nice bulbs H7, that is PIAA Extreme white plus (http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-H7.html). I don't have xenon headlights, so I'd like to have good bulbs.
There are two question I have...
First of all, does our car support 110 W bulbs? I usually see only 55 W bulbs for sale in normal shops...
Second question, are PIAA bulbs really wirth the price? Why do they cost more than twice top Osram or Philips H7 bulbs?

Thanks,

mic.

Personally, I think the stock headlights are bright enough on V70's, especially if you have fog lights too. There are 2 schools of thought on headlights. Good enough and lookout here I come. The cost difference is in the eyes of the beholder.

Honestly if your willing to pay that price then buck up a little more for HID's. You wont regret it.

And yes you can use HID's with your stock headlights. No prolems.

Sorry if I was vauge about my answer.

But HID's are well worth the money and seeing as how you can get them for less then $200 these days it is just stupid to waste money on PIAA or Silverstars.

If you do decide to go the HID route I suggest buying them from SharpHID. Great service. The kits are awesome and so is the price.

Hi,

I have a 2008 V70 and I WAS thinking of getting PIAA light (they cost about $80 / pair) but you mentioned that I might as well get the HID (Xenon) kit from SharpHID.

I am curious whether you have installd a full HID kit (with ballast) from SharpHID, because I never heard of ApexCone brand. Furthermore, apparently there is major issues with the V70 on using the ApexCone HID conversion kit. (see their blog here: http://www.sharphid.com/blog)

FYI, I just want to have a brighter light and whiter color for both my hi/lo beam and fog light.

Yes I have a full blown HID kit for my 1999 s70 awd. Works wonderfully! I have had zero problems with mine.

All I can say about that BLOG post is this.

Try it, buy the harnesses. If it doesn't work and you get the light have your car flashed for HID's.

Also if your going to put HID's in your fogs do not go over 3000K for the bulbs. And when you put them in your headlights if you want the most light and the brightest white go with 4500K. Anything higher you loose light output and all you gain is a color change.

I just got a set of those type of bulbs from ebay they look good but that a twat to fit I still cant get the metal retainers back on and the bulbs are now wedged in
Spoke to volvo and they said that to replace the bulbs they have to remove the front bumper and headlights
when asked what price to do the replacement they said it would take 3 hrs so about £240.00 + VAT to replace the bulbs !!!!!!!

only problemwe got inthe uk is that the hid kitts are are illegal without the proper reflector lenses i have to change mine back to normal bulbs for its mot normal reflector lights do not give the correct beam pattern. dont know what the law is in italy though!

US models at least cannot handle 110w bulbs. Don't know about Euro spec models. I would call a dealership of some kind.
