Knocking noise

Hello everyone, 1st post. I've just bought a V70, 2003, 2.4, manual, petrol, 66K, after owning Saabs for years, fancied a change ...

The car is in great nick other than an annoying knocking noise over bumpy surfaces emanating from the driver's side suspension (I think ... the noise is coming from the area under / around the drivers footwell). The noise corresponds with bumps, and is the same under breaking / acceleration / cruising.

Does anyone have any suggestions what this might be ... a worn rubber bushing (?) ... and what the cost implications of a remedy might be.

Also, any suggestions of a good Volvo service centre in West Oxfordshire, UK?

Many thanks in advance, John

Tie rod, shock, shock bushing... Could be a variety of things so I recommend a garage look into it ASAP before it leads to a bigger problem.

Anoying knocking noise over bumps

90 percent sure anti-roll bar linkage. Will have to replace the two or four if its a AWD they are about twelve pounds each for the front ones or if your keepin the motor why not upgrade because they dont last that long. The good ones are about 25 pounds each but they will last forever they are simple to fit if you would like directions thats no probs have a look first. If you can see where i mean there will be a 10mm bar which is next to the shock absorber(front). Grab hold of it and shake it, it should make a clicking sound. Here is a great website for genuine Volvo spares try www.volvopartsonline kind reguards Ben

Hi Ben, many thanks for your advice - it's with the garage who have replaced the link rods which were apparently the source of the problem, along with a worn real wheel baring. I'll let you know if this sorts out the noise! All the best, john
