Default Looking for a V70, what year?

Hi, I'm new to the forum.
My wife really would like a V70. 2001-2007 model year.
I've been a Ford driver for 30 years and never owned a Volvo.
But have driven in some and know they are great vehicles but I've always been scared of maintainence costs.
We will be buying used and was wondering if the experts on this forum can suggest a model year that wouldn't be too terrible on problems.
I have done some reading, and it looks like we want to stay away for the '01's for sure and maybe even the '02's.
Is the 2003 and up a good bet? We've been finding examples in the 80K range.
Not sure she needs the turbo model, just looking at the regular 2.4L to keep purchase price down.
Thanks for any future help!

I would go for a 03 or newer.
They were way better than the 01 or 02's.

I agree, '03 or newer. 2005 saw some cosmetic changes inside and out and look a little more contemporary. The turbo makes a big difference in power, I would try to drive both. The V70r is probably way more power than you need. Maintenance costs can be kept down with forums like this one, discount parts online and perhaps a good mechanic. Pretty reliable cars, look for a well-maintained one and you should be happy. It is a great car. 2008 is a whole new car.

A non-turbo front wheel drive model should not be too heavy on repair costs. The AWD models or one w/ active suspension can be maintenance machines.
