MAF and Coolant Sensors
Any experience with MAF and coolant sensors.
2000 V70XC with 105K miles. Will not start. Cranks but does not turn over. Unplug the MAF and the car runs but sounds terrible, plug it back in and it stalls. Blower fan engages after the ignition is turned off even though the car is not warm.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, If you can effect a change by unplugging the MAF sensor then I'd conclude it was bad. You could try spraying it with MAF grid cleaner. You've got nothing to lose. I do think you have enough pointing to the MAF to make buying one an intelligent bit of T&E.
The "blower fan" (the one for the ventilation system) turns on to dry the evaporator after the A/C is used. I didn't know 2000s had that feature. Does it turn off after a while?
Coolant temperature sensors do go bad. They can cause errant temperature needle readings as well as throw a code. Is this question related to the blower motor running? Kira

Thanks for your input. The "blower fan" reference may be inaccurate. The fan in reference is the one attached to the radiator that comes on after long extended drives when the engine is hot. It cuts off after 10 or so minutes.
My thoughts were the coolant temp sensor in the thermostat housing may be bad since that can send a message to the ETM to cut off.
I'll look into the MAF or maybe borrow a scanner to evaluate.
