new brake pads and pedal a bit soft
 

hello all, i replaced the brakepads in my 2000 v70 xc and noticed the brake fluid level has risen in the reservoir. it is right on the max line. also, the brake pedal needs to be depressed about 50 percent before they noticeably work.do i need to bleed the calipers?

No, you don't need to bleed the calipers. The pedal is soft and the level higher because you compressed the piston to fit the new (thicker) pads. Push the pedal several times to move the piston out and press the pads against the rotors. After a few pumps, the pedal should be fine.
