New to me V70, noise and also timing

Hello everyone, second post. I did quite a bit of reading and searching, lots of good info in here, and several that touched on whats seems like my issue but I am not sure. Once post mentioned the pulleys but I dont think that is the case for me...anyhow. Just picked up the car tonight, its an 03 V70 AWD 2.5T (auto). When I make left turns I hear a whining noise that matches wheel speed, almost like a whirring low whistle. I have messed and wrenched on a lot of cars trucks and Jeeps, but never a volvo, or an AWD car. I assume its axle or bearing, possibly even brake related but was hoping for inputs on what to look for once I tear it down this weekend. EDIT: Additionally the brakes seem fine, no grabbing or pulsing, or anything like that, just that noise when turning then it calms down again when I straighten out.

The second thing is timing, the car has 124k on it, and the last timing belt service was at 68k so its time to do that, do you guys recommend any particular timing kit? I will be doing the work myself, read several posts about it, and it honestly seems a lot easier on these volvos than most other cars I have done.

Thanks!

i think any wheel bearing noise has to be a wheel bearing. Axles don't really make the same kind of noise. Brakes don't make any noise if you don't step on the pedal. I don't see how they could. People do replace a lot of parts though, sometimes.

The timing belt, I have put several brands on. i guess they're all pretty good. The genuine volvo is actually not a huge purchase. If you have any doubt just go ahead and get the OEM stuff.
