New v70 owner with boost problem
 

I just purchased a 1998 v70 glt. The car has 188k. The head gasket and pcv system was replaced at 144k by previous owner.

I have removed the stock air box and installed a cone style filter and a TurboSmart manual boost controller.

It seems that anything about 10psi and the car wants to surge. At 10psi, the car accelerates very smooth and strong. My friend has an 850 and he is running 15psi with only a cone filter and MBC.

This is my first Volvo. I have an 84 300zx with an RB25 skyline motor. So I'm about out of my league with all the technology the Volvo offers. Does anybody have any suggestions? Do these cars have fuel cut at this low boost?

I would be sliding the **** out of that 300zx meself mate lol.

Fuel cutoff is 15.5 PSI.
How do you have the MBC hooked up?

Thank you for the quick reply. I have it set up the same way as my 300zx. I spliced directly into the vacuum line going to the wastegate. Do Volvos not respond well to this type of setup?

This is how I have it set up on both of my cars.
I have the MBC between the Compressor line and wastegate.
You will disconnect all the lines from the stock EBC but leave it plugged in so it will not throw a code.
I also removed the line from the induction hose and put a cap on the induction hose nipple.
